      This is the last Will and Testament of me Hannah Howse of Coln St Dennis in the County of Gloucester Spinster (that is to say) I give and bequeath unto my nephew Samuel Druce and unto his Son Samuel Druce one hundred pounds each and order the same to be paid to them respectively in twelve months next after my decease I give and bequeath unto my nephew John Millington the Elder of Coln Rogers in the said County of Gloucester Gentleman and John Howes of Winson in the said County of Gloucester Gentleman their Executors Administrators and Assigns five hundred pounds to be paid in one year next after my decease In Trust to put and place the same out at futures on Government or Real Securities and the Interest and Dividends arising therefrom to payments or apply for the Use and Benefit of my niece Elizabeth Sellman for and during the term of her natural Life and from and immediately after her decease In Trust to pay or transfer the said Sum of Five hundred Pounds unto the said Samuel Druce the Younger (to whom I then) give the same his Executors Administrators and Assigns I also give and bequeath unto the said John Millington and John Howes their Executors Administrators and Assigns the sum of Six hundred Pounds (likewise to be paid in one year after my decease) In Trust to put and place the same out at Interest on such Securities as aforesaid until John Millington the Eldest Son of the beforementioned John Millington shall attain his Age of Twenty One Years And I direct my said Trustees as fast as they receive the Interest of the said Six Hundred Pounds to put and place the same out at Interest upon such Securities as aforesaid in order to accumulate and upon the said John Millington the Younger attaining the said Age of Twenty One Years I give and bequeath to him the said Sum of Six hundred Pounds with all such accumulation as shall be made thereto by the aforesaid but in Case he shall happen to die before attaining such Age and leave lawful Issue then I give and bequeath the said Six Hundred Pounds and Accumulation which shall be made thereto at the death of the said John Millington the Younger unto such Issue And if such Issue be one Child only to such Child wholly but if two or more then to them equally And to be paid or transferred to such only Child or Children at his her or their Age or respective Ages of Twenty One Years and until such only Child attains or Children respectively attain the Age of Twenty One Years to continue at Interest the whole or the respective shares of the said Children of and in the said Sum of six hundred pounds and in the Accumulation aforesaid and such Interest to pay and apply for his her or their respective Education and Maintenance until such only Child shall attain his or her Age or such Children shall attain their respective Ages of Twenty One Years And if either of the said Children (there being more than one) shall happen to die before attaining the Age of Twenty One Years In Trust to pay the share or shares of him her or them so dying unto the survivors and survivor of them equally (if more than one) at their respective Ages of Twenty One Years and if but one wholly at his or her Age of Twenty One Years And in the Interest thereof in the mean time to be applied in like manner for the like Purposes as hereto before mentioned respecting his her or their Original Portion or Portions And in Case the said John Millington the Younger shall happen to die before he attains the said Age of Twenty One Years and leaving no lawful Issue then I direct my said Trustees to continue the said Sum of Six Hundred Pounds and the accumulation thereof at Interest on such Securities as aforesaid and the Interest or Dividends thereto arising as fast as the same shall be received again to put and place out at Interest on such Securities as aforesaid in order to make a further Accumulation and when and as Jane Millington Mary Millington and Elizabeth Millington (three sisters of the said John Millington the Younger) shall attain their respective Ages of Twenty One Years I direct my said Trustees to pay and transfer out equal third part of the said Sum of Six hundred Pounds and all Accumulation thereto unto the said Jane Millington Mary Millington and Elizabeth Millington respectively so ……. Illegible …… and in Case of the death of any of them before attaining the Age of Twenty One Years the share or shares of xxxx or them so dying of and in the Sum of Six Hundred Pounds and the Accumulation aforesaid It shall go over to all and be the property of the survivors or survivor of them Equally if xxxx xxxx xxxx and if but one such survivor to live to them wholly and to be paid out of the xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx before mentioned for payment of the original Portion or Portions I give and bequeath unto my Great Nephew Richard Townsend the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds and order the sum to be paid to him in Twelve Months next after my decease I give and bequeath unto the said John Millington the Elder and John Howes their Executors Administrators and Assigns the Sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Pounds and order the same to be paid in twelve months next after my decease In Trust respectively to put and place the same out at Interest and such Securities as aforesaid and the Interest and Dividends thereto arising during the natural Life of my Great Niece Mary Howse (late Mary Townsend) to pay unto her the said Mary Howse And from and immediately after her decease In Trust if she shall leave lawful Issue to pay or transfer the said Sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Pounds unto such Issue and if the same be more than one Child to them equally as and when they attain their respective Ages of Twenty One Years and if but one Child then at his or her Age of Twenty One Years and until such only Child attains or such Children respectively attain the Age of Twenty One Years to continue at Interest on such Securities as aforesaid the whole or the respective shares of the said Child or Children of and in the said Sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Pounds and such Interest or Dividends to pay and apply for his her and their respective Education and Maintenance until such only Child shall attain his or her age or such Children shall attain their respective Ages of Twenty One Years and if either of the said Children (there being more than one) shall happen to die before attaining the Age of Twenty One Years In Trust to pay the share or shares of him her or them so dying of and in the said Sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Pounds until the survivors and survivor of those equally (if more than one) at their respective Ages of Twenty One Years and if but one wholly at his or her Age of Twenty One Years And the Interest thereof in the mean time to be applied in like manner and for the like purposes herein before mentioned respecting his her and their original Portion or Portions I give and bequeath unto the said John Millington the Elder and John Howes their Executors Administrators and Assigns the Sum of Six hundred Pounds and order the same to be paid in Twelve Months next after my decease In Trust nevertheless to put and place the same out at Interest on such Securities as aforesaid and the Interest and Dividends thereof arising during the natural Life of my niece Jane Turk to pay unto her and from said immediately after her decease In Trust to pay and transfer the said Sum of Six Hundred Pounds unto and amongst all and every her Children in equal parts and shares I also give and bequeath unto the present Children of the said Jane Turk One Thousand and Five Hundred Pounds to be equally divided between them and I order the same to be paid in one Year next after my decease And I hereby direct that the Interest of the sum of Five Hundred Pounds herein before given to and for the use of the said Elizabeth Sellman the Interest of the Sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Pounds herein before given unto the said Mary Howse and the Interest of the said Sum of Six Hundred Pounds herein before given to the said Jane Turk shall be paid unto or be applied for the use of the said Elizabeth Sellman Mary Howse and Jane Turk respectively independent of their present or any future husbands and shall not be subject to their or any of their Debts Controls or Engagements but the Receipt or Receipts of the said Elizabeth Sellman Mary Howse and Jane Turk only shall be lawful discharges to my said Trustees for the Interest Monies herein before given unto them the said Elizabeth Sellman Mary Howse and Jane Turk respectively except in such Cases where my said Trustees shall choose to apply the said Interest Monies for the Use and Benefit of either of them the said Elizabeth Sellman Mary Howse and Jane Turk in which Case the Receipt or Receipts in Writing of the Person or Persons to whom the same shall be paid for their or any of their Use or Benefit shall be good and sufficient discharge and discharges for the same to my said Trustees I give and bequeath unto the said three Daughters of the Said John Millington the Elder namely Jane Mary and Elizabeth and unto his son William One Hundred Pounds each to be paid to such of them who shall in one Year after my decease have attained the Age of Twenty One Years but in Case all or any or either of them shall not at that time be of the Age of Twenty One Years then I direct the said John Millington the Elder and John Howes their Executors Administrators and Assigns to put and place out at Interest upon such Securities as aforesaid the last mentioned Legacy or Legacys of him her or them who shall not then have attained the Age of Twenty One Years and the Interest from thereto arising to put and place out again at Interest upon such Securities as aforesaid in order to accumulate until the said Jane Millington Mary Millington Elizabeth Millington and William Millington or such of them being so under age as aforesaid respectively attain the Age of Twenty one Years And as and when they respectively attain such Age I direct my said John Millington the Elder and John Howse their Executors Administrators and Assigns to pay and Transfer unto him or her so attaining such Age his or her said Legacy of One Hundred Pounds with all such Accumulation as shall be made thereto in manner aforesaid and in Case of the death of any or either of them the said Jane Millington Mary Millington Elizabeth Millington and William Millington before attaining the said Age of Twenty One Years I direct my said Trustees to pay and transfer the said Legacy of One Hundred Pounds and the Accumulation thereof as aforesaid of him her or them so dying unto the survivors and survivor of them the said Jane Millington Mary Millington Elizabeth Millington and William Millington equally if more than one and if there be but One survivor then wholly to such only survivor and to be paid and transferred at the time herein before mentioned for the Payment or transfer of the Original Legacy or respective Legacies of One Hundred Pounds I give unto the said John Howes One Hundred Pounds as a token of my regard for him and an acknowledgement for the Trouble he will have by assisting in the Execution of the Trusts of this my Will and I give unto the said John Howes the further Sum of Fifty Pounds In Trust for his Son Robert Berkeley Howes which said two last mentioned Legacies I direct to be paid One Year next after my decease I give the sum of Twenty Pounds to be distributed at the discretion of of my Executors between all the Poor House keepers in the Parish of Coln St Dennis I give to my Servant John Matthews Twenty Pounds if he be living in my Service at the time of my decease but not otherwise And I give to my Servant Sarah Hunt the like Sum of Twenty Pounds if she be living in my Service at my decease but not otherwise And all and singular my Wearing Apparel of every description I give and bequeath unto and amongst my nieces to be divided between and amongst them by my Executors I give and bequeath unto the said John Millington the Younger my Gold Watch and everything thereto belonging And all the rest and residue of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever not herein before disposed of I give and bequeath unto the said John Millington the Elder his Executors Administrators and Assigns to and for his and their own Use and Benefit and I make and appoint the said John Millington the Elder and John Howes joint Executors of this my Will And hereby revoke all and every other Wills and Will by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in five Sheets of Paper to the four first Sheets set my hand and to this fifth and last Sheet subscribed and set my hand and Seal the ninth day of December in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety seven Hannah Howse Signed sealed published and declared by the said Hannah Howse the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of Us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto.       Whereas I Hannah Howse have by my above written Will given unto the Children of my niece Jane Turk the sum of One Thousand and five hundred pounds to be equally divided between them And as Mary Turk one of the daughters of the said Jane Turk is married I do hereby revoke the Bequest in her favor and I do give her share of and in the said sum of One Thousand and five hundred pounds unto John Millington and John Howes the Trustees named in my said Will upon Trust And I do hereby direct them to place the said share out at Interest on the Securities and in manner mentioned in my said Will and to pay the Interest and Dividends thereof unto the said Mary Turk for her own separate and peculiar use and Benefit independent of her present or any future husband and not to be subject to his or their Debts Control or Engagements and I hereby further declare that the Receipt or Receipts of the said Mary Turk only shall be lawful discharges to my said Trustees for the Interest and Dividends thereof And immediately from and after the decease of the said Mary Turk Upon Trust to pay and Transfer the said share of the said Sum of One Thousand and five hundred pounds unto and amongst all and every her Children in equal parts and shares if more than one and if but one Child unto that one only In every other respect I hereby ratify my said Will and do hereby desire that this Writing may be considered as a Codicil to my said Will as Witness my hand this twenty third day of January One thousand seven hundred and ninety eight Hannah Howse James Larner John Mills

      This will was proved at London with a Codicil the first day of April in the year of Our Lord One thousand Eight Hundred and One before the Right Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of John Millington the Elder and John Howes the Executors named in the said Will to who Administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer.
