Notes |
- CWGC record says his name was Gordon. Ancestry says his birthplace was Norwich (but no obvious George born in Norwich at that time.
From the record of George's effects at Ancestry.com, we can see he left his effects to Dorothy May Flowers of Lenwade (also known as Great Witchingham) - was she his daughter? Her birth date was (per those same records, 1 Jun 1918, after his death)
A Dorothy M B Flowers birth was registered in 1946 in Fakenham but backdated to 1908 in Faversham?
A Dorothy M B Flowers died Q1 1987 in Norwich with birth date 1 jun 1908. The 1908 record is not borne out by the new online GRO index of births, by the way!
I found Dorothy M Flowers in the 1939 Register as a Staff Nurse at a hospital in Mundesley, Norfolk. So nothing to learn there.
George's main records appear to have been among those burned.
As you can see, nothing quite ties up! The man's name is different. His daughter's birth place may have been in Norfolk or may have been in Kent (I suspect Norfolk). She was definitely born in 1 Jun probably in 1908 but why not properly in the records?!
