  	Funeral report from Apr 12 reads: The funeral of Osborne Howes was held at his home on Woodland Road, Chestnut Hill at 3 o'clock yesterday, Rev Thacher R Kimball, assustant rector of St Stephen's church, Florence Street, officiating. The Boston board of underwriters was represented by George P Field, A M Bullard, E D Blake Frederic B Carpenter, Francis Peabody, R A Bolt, F E Cabot, and Warren S Colegrove. Burial was in Walnut Hills cemetery.
  Notes	NYT Obit reads: BOSTON April 9 - Osborn Howes, Secretary of the Boston Board of Fire Underwriters, Japanese Consul for this city and a well-known newspaper man, died in Chestnut Hill from Angina Pectoris last night. He leaves a widow and three children: - Osborn Howes jr, a member of the firm of Henderson & Howes, brokers, - Kenneth Howes, who is at Harvard - one daughter, Mss Gretchen Howes. Mr Howes's made a particular study of municipal government, and was one of the special committee in 1884 which prepared the present city charter. He was a life-long Democrat and on several occasions unsuccessfully contested the Senatorial seat in Brookline.
