      C M DICKINS MB, BCHIR

Charles Malcolm Dickins, formerly a general practitioner in Cowfold, Sussex, died 19 May aged 75. Born Cowfold, 17 June 1913; educated Epsom College and Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and St Bartholomew's Hospital (MB, BChir 1937). During Second World War served in Royal Air Force in India and Burma.

After marriage in 1938 Charles Dickins joined his father in general practice in Cowfold. Apart from his wartime service he worked there for the rest of his professional life. Conscientious and hard working, he was highly regarded for his ability and compassion. He retired in 1973.
A man of many wide ranging interests and recreations as diverse as electronics, bird watching, music, and croquet, he was seldom happier than when skiing in the Alps, which he continued to do every year until he was over 70. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and by their three sons and three grandchildren, to all of whom he gave unfailing support and encouragement in their various endeavours. -ARD.
