Putting our Hows in order - April 2019

Happy new month, everyone. Wow! We are 1/3 of the way through 2019. The older I get the faster time seems to go by . . . . or am I just wasting too much time on Facebook? Maybe it's both! This month we added 750 people to our database and ended up with just over 145,000. Will we get to 150,000 by Ro...

Putting our Howes in order - March 2019 - again late

3rd of April and no monthly email for March yet! Apologies. I’ve had a pretty hectic social calendar the past few weeks, not the least important of which was the annual conference of the Guild of One-Name Studies last weekend. Quite a lot to report, actually. Buckle your seatbelts! Here goes. RootsT...

Re: Putting our Howse in order - February 2019 (only slightly late!)

Hi Peter. Thanks for the positive feedback and speaking up about your issue. Here are two tips for using the search facilities on our site: 1) if you know the name of the Howes/Howse/House etc spouse, then better to use that, because there are fewer duplicates (except for Smith!). Put their names in...

Putting our Howse in order - February 2019 (only slightly late!)

Hello folks. It's March 3 and I'm sitting in a Starbucks in Salt Lake City, shattered, basking in the afterglow of RootsTech 2019, that is to episode 1 of RootsTech 2019! Episode 2 happens in London on October 24-26. I have been an Ambassador for Salt Lake City and will be for London too. So I'm afr...

Putting our House in order - January 2019

Happy new month, everyone. Apologies for the slight delay in receipt of this note but our Bulletin Board software is now very rusty and unpredictable. When I went to log in to draft my monthly newsletter it claimed not to recognize me, which is an obvious problem! We’re back on the road, at least te...

Re: Going round the HOWZEs - December 2018

Do not bother with a marriage for this couple. There wasn't one!
Mabel died under her maiden name of Woolford in 1938. Thanks again to Celia.

Re: Going round the HOWZEs - December 2018

Well done to correspondent Celia Stanley who figured out that William David Howes 1881 was in fact . . . . .drum roll . . . . born David William Howse in 1884, and was already in our records! Almost nothing ties up in the several records that David appears in, except that he didn't go far from his o...

Going round the HOWESes - October 2018

Hello everyone. Happy new month. Less than two more to Christmas, I'm afraid! Maps not working - it's temporary, I hope Here at HowesFamilies.com we had a rather bad present from Google last month. Ever since we went live, we've been using GoogleMaps to illustrate the various paths in life taken by ...
