  Notes	The Milwaukee Journal said: Alfred Loomis Howes, a young artist from Danbury CT, who has worked his passage on tramp schooners, fought in a Cuban revolution and frequented the ringside in many a port is showing a collection of drawings in red crayon representing athletes. There is that in the certainty and swiftness of his lines that is akin to Rembrandt drawings . . . He knows his anatomy and knows how little an informed pencil has to do to indicate the play of muscles. [2]
