      In the name of God Amen I Richard Howse of Winson in the Parish of Bibury in the County of Gloucester do make this my last Will and Testament and dispose of all my Worldly Goods as followeth. First of all I give unto my daughter Ann Howse the sum of seven hundred Pounds to be paid unto her by my son Richard Howse when she shall arrive at the age of twenty one years. Also I give unto my son John Howse the sum of six hundred and thirty Pounds to be paid unto him by my son Richard Howse when he shall arrive at the age of twenty three years. Also I give unto my son Harman Howse the sum of seven hundred Pounds such part thereof to be paid to his Guardians herein after named as shall by them be thought necessary to put him apprentice as such time as he shall be bound apprentice by Indenture to a Grade, and the remainder of the said sum of seven hundred Pounds
      to be paid to him by my son Richard Howse when he shall arrive at the age of twenty three years. And if either of my said children shall dye before the respective ages at which their respective Legacy’s are directed to be paid by this my Will, my Will is that such childs Legacy herein before named shall be paid to and equally divided amongst all my children which shall be then alive as soon as they arrive at the age of twenty one years respectively. And
      my Will is that my said son Richard Howse shall every half year pay or cause to be paid the Interest of the several sum’s herein before given to my Daughter Ann and to my son’s John and Harman after the Rate of three Pounds and ten shillings for every Hundred pounds by the year into the Hands of my Brother Richard Fletcher and of my
      Brother John Howse Whom I hereby appoint Guardians of my said Children to be by them employed in the maintenance and education of my said Children respectively, the first half yearly payment to be made at eight months after my Decease and to be continued until their respective Legacy’s are severally paid to my said Children. Also I give unto my son Richard Howse and to his Heirs for ever all my Freehold and Leasehold Lands
      Tenements with their appurtenances lying and being in Winson aforesaid subject nevertheless to the Payment of all and every the respective Legacy’s herein before mentioned and of the Interest aforesaid and all the rest of my Goods and Chattels I do give and bequeath unto my Beloved Wife Mary Howse and to my son Richard Howse joynt executors of this my Will. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and seal this sixth day of April in
      the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty two

    • Web research shows that Richard was the Surgeon-General to the British army and he built Winson House in the 1740s.

      A Mrs Howse was buried in Winson in 1747 and a Mrs Anne Howse in 1757, and a Mrs Mary Howse in 1761

      Note forwarded by Tony Kimber: "The 3rd part of the Manor of Winson which passed to Thomas Howse the younger was held by his descendants for over 2 centuries. Richard Howse(d1718) left his lands to his son Richard who held 194a in 1728,Richard ,d,1753 was succeeded by his son Richard,d,1766 whose widow Esther quitclaimed her lands settled on her to his brother and heir John in 1767. John died 1807,was succeeded by his son Richard,d,1808 and William.William held 380 acres in Winson and Coln St Dennis.
