- Will reads:
This is the Last Will and Testament of me Joseph Howse of Grays Inn Lane in the Borough of Finsbury in the County of Middlesex victualler made published and declared this 7th day of February in the year 1843 in manner following that is to say I give devise and bequeath all and every my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever whether I shall be possessed of interested in or attached to at the time of my decease unto my wife Mary for her own proper use and benefit as long as she shall live and from and immediately after her decease then I give devise and bequeath the same unto my son Joseph and daughter Sarah to be eaually divided between them. Lastly I do hereby make nominate and appoint my said wife Mary and Samuel William Brooks of Cardington Street, Hampstead Road in the county of Middlesex joint Executrix and Executor of this my will and do declate this only to be my last will and Testament as witness whereof I the said Joseph Howse the Testator have to this my will by my hand an dseal this day and year first before written Joseph Howse signed, sealed delivered and published and declared by the said Joseph Howse the Testator as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names Thomas Howse Henry Stagg.
Proved at London 10th eMarch 1843 before the worshipful William Claverley Curteis Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oaths of Mary Howse widow the relict and Samual WIlliam Brooks the Executors to whom admon was granted having both sworn fully to administer.

IGI has two marriages of a William to a Sarah Benhill on 11 OCT 1787!
Joseph appears as the licensee of the Nag's Head from 1825 to 1841 in trade or Post Office Directories or as a member of the Licensed Victuallers' Association. Mary Howse then figures in two articles in 1848 until August when a John Bates Wells takes over from her.
- According to family history was a businessman and owned a coal mine and shipyard in Wales in the 1840-1866 range.
