Notes |
- Very interesting, David. Thanks for your vigilance. As it happens, according to the IGI and the 1851 census, the first child of my George Wells and Anne Riches, Margaret, was born in Corpusty. Given that recently married women in those days often returned home to have their first child, we might have a match. I'm afraid that because I live overseas (Amsterdam) most of my research is internet based, spiced up with occasional trips to the central library (Heritage Centre?) when I visit my mum in Norwich.
But from the internet, I see that marriages listed on the Norfolk Transcription Archive for Corpusty stop at 1812 (Murphy's law). However, now I look, I can see that your Richard and Frances had a daughter Mary in 1817, a Sarah in 1819 and a Charlotte in 1821. Seems like they were blessed with lovely daughters! No reason why they could not have had an Anne in 1813, or indeed another child in 1815..... I couldn't find much on the IGI, until I did a direct search for Richard Riches, and then I found the marriage you referred to, although there is no particular batch number for Corpusty, apparently.
So I can't tell you much more than that at this point, until I go check out the parish register myself. Is there anything more you can share with me before I do? What's your interest there?
Regards and thanks again for the lead.
