Notes |
- Interesting anecdote in book about how Abner was only five at the outbreak of the civil war. He remembers hiding in the woods with his mother and returning after a few days to find all their farm and possessions burned or looted. They ate corn which had been trampled under foot by horses
Thanks to Davis Parsons who provided the photograph of a road crew in Cullman County in 1915. Among the crew are Thomas and his sons. As Davis reminds us, all landowners were required to do their share of road maintenance.
