    Notes
    • Etta, along with her sister Maude, were accomplished seamstresses. Thefamily still has a petticoat that was made by the two women, which wasoriginally worn underneath the graduation dress of Mary Harriet "Hallie"McCord in 1910. All four of Hallie's daughters wore that petticoat astheir "something old" item underneath their wedding gowns. According toEleanore Nolte Horning, this petticoat had a double 5-yard flounce ofhand-tatted lace, stitched by Etta. Several of Hallie's grand-daughtersand grand-daughters-in-law have also worn this petticoat for theirweddings. In 1981, Debbie (Roberts) Ferguson even slipped a blue ribboninto the lace so that it not only counted for the "somthing old" but the"something blue" as well.
