  	Saw a year's service in France 1915-6 Gunshot wound to hand in a letter, Henry says he was discharged Sep 1916 because of his gunshot wound Henry's military papers show that in January 1915, his mother wrote to the Army with a copy of his birth certificate pointing out that he was under age upon enlistment, that he had had a nervous breakdown and asking for him to be released from service. The Army replied saying that her son had stated that he was 19years and 16 days at enlistment and that that was his official age. Per Gregory Howes, after Henry's discharge from the army due to his wound, he enlisted in the Merchant Navy and served there until the end of the war.
