Small side note: the Santa Alicia was en route from Progreso on the Yucatan peninsula to New Orleans with a cargo of sisal hemp, used for rope. It foundered off the port of Campeche and could not continue for twelve days. This was part of a complex case in which the National Surety Company of the US had a claim against the Mexican government and was awarded some compensation.
