  Notes	John Robert Howse, birth certificate says he was born at 34 Warren Street, London, England 21 August, 1850. (Death records from Moravian Church in Edmonton, AB showed birthdate as 18 August, 1851) John Robert Howse (my grandfather) was an orphan child from London and was sent about 1860-65 to an orphanage farm in Quebec. When he reached adulthood he went back to England and apprenticed as a lead typesetter and married. This is according to our family history. According to the obituary of Samuel Hanway Howse, he and two brothers came to to Brooklyn, NY in 1870. John Robert Howse secured employment as a lead typesetter in San Francisco and was joined by his wife and children c1888, the family was there until the 1906 earthquake. They were going to leave San Francisco and come to NY, but the rail lines were all down and they decided to take a ship to Vancouver, BC, Canada and thence took a homestead outside Edmonton, Alberta in 1906. John Robert Howse father died about 1859-69 in London, England and according to family history was predeceased by his wife. The obituary of Samuel Hanway Howse confirms that their parents were Joseph Howse and Jane Wheeler of England.
