Henry Ellsworth Howes, 80, of Windsor, beloved husband of Vera Jean (Lang) Howes, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born on June 28, 1932, in North Adams, MA, son of the late Henry Wilson and Elizabeth (Pickert) Howes. Henry was a graduate of Yarmouth High School with the Class of 1949 and went on to serve our country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Coast Guard. Upon returning from service he went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was married to his college sweetheart, Vera in 1957 and together they settled in Windsor in 1973. He worked for Kaman Aerospace for over 40 years, before his retirement in 2001. Henry enjoyed playing classical guitar, woodworking and gardening. A kind, caring, and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be greatly missed. Along with his wife Vera Jean, of over 56 years, he leaves his daughters, Laurel Howes of South Windsor, Linda Howes of Averell Park, NY and Karen Marquis of Suffield; a sister, Eugenia England of Louisiana; five grandchildren, Abbe Carreira and her husband Adelino, Cassidy Donohue, James Donohue, Samantha Marquis and Joshua Marquis; a great grandson, Jacob Carreira; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Brendon Herlihy of New Fairfield and Albert and Ann Lang of St. Croix.
