- There was a brief announcement in the Melbourne Argus of an engagement of Alison to Archer Kyffin Thomas, grandson of William Kyffin Thomas (proprietor of the South Australian Register) but nothing came of it.

Jan 16 1948 The Argus reported Garda Brunton and her sister Alison Starr were taking a two week caravan holiday 'at a spot between Port Arlington and St Leonards'. 'Garda's daughters Serena and Belinda' and 'Alison's elder two Neville and Evelyn' were with them 'the youngest of the Starr trio, 14 month old Richard would stay with his grandmother Lady Howse.'
Possible link - Alison Starr is given as the author of ' Neville Howse V.C. : biography of an authentic Australian hero' (pub 1991) and 'School Libraries in New South Wales since 1900; historical educational and social aspects' ( a thesis written in 1978) in the National Library of Australia catalogue. ( Is this the same person or is it one of the 3 daughters ? Husband died 1976 when she was 60, Alison Neville Starr is listed as a teacher in 1980, Book about Sir Neville 1991 when she would have been 75. Catalogue gives address for obtaining copies of book as Ms A Starr 6/80 St Paul's Street, RandwickNSW 2031 as if it is still possible to contact. if still alive she would be 96 & wouldn't she have been known as Lady Starr?.) Australian War Memorial Collection includes a manuscript biography of Sir Neville ref MSS1376 made between 1988-1990 by Lady Alison Starr poss the original of the published work.

The marriage of Miss Alison Neville Howse to Major Kenneth William Starr, A.A.M.C, ALP., was celebrated quietly yesterday in the chapel of All Saints' Church, East St. Kilda, by Canon J. A. Schofield.
The bride is the youngest daughter o! Lady Howse, of Burnie street, Toorak and of the late Sir Neville Howse, VC She was given away by her brother, Mr John Howse, flowers.
The bridegroom, who Is the elder son of Mrs. W. Starr, of Sydney, was attended by Captain A Matheson, A A M C.
