  Notes	per our correspondent Carol Hawkins: My grandparents Horace and Esther Howes plus their daughter Elila Howes Herrick collected antique dolls. At one time they had about 1,000 of them. My aunt and grandmother would take them to schools to give history lessons with the dolls. My grandmother made most of the clothes for the dolls and also made some of the wigs for the dolls. In fact, one wig has my hair from when I was a teen! I saved my hair every time I got it cut until she had enough! I have the doll now! My grandfather was a doll doctor. He repaired them. He was very good at it and had his own shop. In the picture of my grandfather, he is holding a music box which he made. I have that also!! My grandfather was also a rock hound! I have several pieces of jewelry made with stones that he cut! He was very talented! I was a lucky girl to have my family!!!!
